View Full Version : Annoying things in poker
You know what’s the most annoying while playing poker? A newcomer at the table who doesn’t know what to do and the dealer has to explain everything for him! It ruins the game! Why not try special courses for newcomers (I know some casino offer such services) first? There you’ll get to know what to do and how to behave! If there’s no such service in the casino – watch other professionals playing but don’t try to play with them! Get the knack of it!

I understand your displeasure. But don't you remember yourself in the same position of novice at the casino table - listening to unknown words, looking at such strange behavior of you neighbors...
Maybe it's better to help such people and they will increase their skills faster and stop annoying you?

And don't forget some players are WOMEN! Don't curse too much! And if you want to smoke - do it, but PLEASE don't puff at your neighbors!

A drunken player can be even more annoying than a new one!

In one casino I used to work with the dealer-Chinese who hardly spoke English. It was awful! He could not even explain to me a game rule! I know, that a significant part of clientele - Chineses. But it does not mean, that dealers should not speak English. So what level of knowledge of language the dealer should have to work in a casino?

I deal at Bellagio in Las Vegas and a dealer needs to be understood. They are, at times explaining the rule or certain situations to players in a game and they need to be able to speak English. And speaking Chinese to a few players, while the rest speak English, is totally taboo unless they are a translator - the dealer needs to speak the common language, which in this county (IMHO) is English.
To my mind the most annoying thing in poker is when a silly drunk teenager is disputing with a grown up during the game!!!
